Featured Bride and Destination Wedding Specialist: Tammy Prost
Tammy Prost is one of our recent “Brides” at Las Caletas and she had an interesting story behind why she chose to renew her vows there. We thought it was pretty cool and we wanted to share her story with you.
“As a destination wedding specialist, I was asked by our close friends to help plan their travel and destination wedding to Puerto Vallarta. Since this was my first time to Puerto Vallarta, I had to do some research myself to find out more information on the area and what tours and excursion we could do.” explained Tammy.
“I stumbled across the Vallarta Adventures website and found that they offered every type of tour and excursion you could possibly imagine from Canopy tours, scuba diving to the super romantic Rhythms of the Nights. As I was perusing their website, I found a link that directed me to Adventure Weddings.”
“As a Destination Wedding Specialist, Las Caletas and Adventure Weddings piqued my interest as my husband and I have a long running tradition to renew our vows ever year that we travel someplace special.”
“Usually we will renew our vows at the resort that we’re staying at but since our friends were getting married at the resort, we decided Las Caletas was very unique location and would be perfect for us.”
“I contacted Adventure Weddings for more details and Nicole promptly and kindly answered all my questions. Quickly, we reserved our special day and awaited our trip.
Our special day started at 4:30 PM at the Vallarta Adventures office where we were met by Nicole, our event coordinator from Adventure Weddings. She gave us a big hug, as by this time we had numerous conversations and a new found friendship had begun.”
“We boarded the catamaran which was equipped with an open bar and a fun and entertaining staff. We cruised past Puerto Vallarta and by doing so, we were able to get a real panoramic view of how big Banderas Bay really is, with the mountains in the back ground and the idyllic town of Puerto Vallarta at the base of them.”
“As we continued south, past Los Arcos, we could see faint lights in the distance and as we got closer we could see that the lights were hundreds of torches and candles shimmering on the water and lighting the shoreline of the private beach called Las Caletas.
Once we docked, we were greeted by Brad, the Minister from Adventure Weddings, and welcomed by the costumed performers who are a part of the Rhythms of the Night show. The scent of incense followed us as we strolled down the torch lit path to a palapa roofed “casita”, (the Bridal Suite), where I could freshen up. The casita is a large room with a white canopy bed, a large couch, perfect for the bridesmaid to hang out on, a large bathroom with walk-in shower, a nifty sink made out of a tree truck and a vanity area where my beautiful tropical bouquet was waiting for me. After freshening up, I was ready.”
“I headed down the hidden cobblestone stairs and followed the candle lit path to my husband, Colin, who was waiting on a private terrace overlooking the ocean. The sounds of the waves crashing on to the beach was the perfect background music and the hundreds of candles and torches were truly the most romantic backdrop ever, especially since we were renewing our vows just as the sun was setting.”
“Our renewal ceremony was very romantic and the Unity of Sand was a truly meaningful touch and something that Brad was able to provide for us. After exchanging our vows and promises of love for one another, we signed the certificate, enjoyed a champagne toast, posed for pictures and then sat down at our special table overlooking the ocean. Our dinner was one of our best meals, with a wide variety of food and a chocolate cake to die for.
After our romantic dinner, we were summoned along a torch-lit path, deeper into the jungle with the distant beat becoming louder as we walked towards a pyramid. Here in the natural amphitheater, we had front row seats to watch the Rhythms of the Night show. A Pre-Hispanic modern music and dance performance fused with symbols of the Mexican culture, including an ancient Pre-Hispanic wedding, How much more romantic can it get!”
“Our return boat ride was an absolute blast plus getting to know Brad, our minister and a fellow Canadian was very fun and quite informative.
I especially would like to thank Nicole and Brad plus all of the staff at Adventure Weddings for the amazing and professional service we received on our special day. Muchas Gracias and keep up the excellent work!” ~Tammy Prost

A little bit about Tammy Prost:
It started about 10 yrs ago when my husband and I wanted to have a destination wedding. At that time, no one had any idea where to start or what was required to have a wedding away from home. After many months of research, I planned and booked our destination wedding in Hawaii. After realizing that there must be other couples that are dreaming of a destination wedding but have no idea where to go or what to do, is when I decide to become a travel agent and a destination wedding specialist and I started my business, www.tpitropicalescapes.ca
I am a big romantic at heart and that is one of the reasons that we try to renew our vows every year. Not only do I get to re-marry my soul mate again and again in the most beautiful and romantic places, this also gives me a chance to experience the destinations first hand. It’s important for me to get to know the culture, get acquainted with the local wedding coordinators and become knowledgeable with the marriage requirements and other destination info. I have a strong commitment, passion and desire to make every bride’s dream wedding come true, in any destination they desire.
Besides planning our destination wedding in Hawaii we have renewed our vows In Punta Cana Dominican Republic, Las Caletas in Puerto Vallarta, Varadero, Cuba, at a drive-thru wedding chapel in Las Vegas and next year we have planned a New Year’s renewal in Jamaica.
