Destination Wedding Dress Decisions
When Lisa first started planning her destination wedding in Puerto Vallarta, selecting her wedding dress wasn’t one of the first things on her plate. She wanted to get the location wrapped up first, plan the guest list and invitations, select accommodations and then get started on the details.

A month of planning passed and Lisa decided she better get going on picking out her dream gown since the wedding was less than six months away. She had been looking through bridal magazines, stopped in a couple of dress shops and had been to a wedding since she had gotten engaged. Nothing really stood out for her and as she went from shop to shop she started to feel the pressure and soon became overwhelmed.
“I never really thought about the details of what type of dress I wanted to wear” lamented Lisa, “I mean, in my head, all I saw was me dressed in flowing white on a beach, drenched in sun and kissing my husband. I never thought about cut, style, fit, fabric, length, humidity, shoes…anything! So, when the sales consultants started asking me weather related questions, I started to get really nervous, especially since I was trying to find a tropical wedding dress in the beginning of winter.”

“What I realized after beginning to search for a dress, is that I had to take into account that our wedding would be in February, in a tropical location, Las Caletas, Mexico, and that I would be walking on sand, by the ocean and not acclimated to the weather. I needed something gorgeous but with a cool, breathable fabric and a simple cut, but I wasn’t finding it. Everything was too skimpy, too ornate or too hot looking and here I am shopping when it is snowing outside.” Lisa looked online, to no avail, but finally found a gown during a Bridal Expo that was perfect.
Lisa’s dream dress appeared on the cat walk during the bridal show and she knew it was the one. “It was a simple sheath styled dress that had a scooped neckline and a lower cut back. And best yet, it was lightweight, easily packable and washable!”
Lisa paired her dress with peep-toe ballerina slippers and changed to crystal adorned flip-flips for the beach-side reception. She chose to skip the bridal veil and instead had tropical flowers placed in her up-do.
“But what about the bridal party?” I asked Lisa. “What did they wear?”
“That was one of the main reasons we chose to have a destination wedding,” laughed Lisa. “We knew with this decision we could get away with not having a wedding party. We have too large of a family and too many close friends to be able to only select a few people to be in the wedding, so we chose to have just us two and my parents to give me away. Plus, we didn’t want to add any extra expenses as everyone was paying for their own airfare and accommodations. We wanted simple and easy.” Explained Lisa “And the best part is once I found the dress, everything else was smooth sailing. Especially planning the actual wedding and reception at Las Caletas. The wedding planners thought of absolutely everything and I really did not have to do a thing except relax and say “I do!”

One of the coolest DIY videos I have ever seen is from ThreadBangers.com and shows how to make an amazing $10 Dollar wedding dress out of white men’s T-Shirts.
If I had not already gotten married on the beach in Puerto Vallarta in a gown muled down from the States, I probably would have taken a weekend and made myself one of these!

I just want to let you know that I used your company to do my wedding on Las Caletas on 03/30/09 and it was SO UNBELIEVEABLY AMAZING thanks to several of your staff!!!
First and foremost I have to send out huge props to Ms. Nicole Majewski our wedding coordinator. Nicole and I cooresponded via email for several months leading up to the wedding and she just kept telling me not to worry about anyting, just show up and she will take care of the rest. So I did nothing……showed up with my guests and everything was more than perfect!! When we arrived there was fresh fruit and champagne in the bridal suite(way cool). My flowers were beautiful, the dinner table was georgous, and the food and wait staff were excellent!
Ulysses our photographer was a lot of fun, you could tell he loves his career! We had a great time taking photos with Ulysses, he was really fun and into his work…I can’t say enough good stuff about him, very sweet guy!!
And then theres Brad our Officiant who with such touching vows had everyone of our guests sobbing the whole ceremony. Everyone agreed it was truely a beautiful and breath taking day. Everything was PERFECT, I couldn’t have asked for better people or location. I will recomend you to everyone I know!!
